Achievements

Pega CDH(Customer Decision Hub) Implementation
2023

National Austalia Bank is investing in AI across the organisation, a big part of this is with AI driven customer communication decisioning.
I worked as one of the lead platform engineers to onboard the application, set up the ingress and egress data flows, ensure compliance and co-ordinate across multiple divisions in the bank.
Pega CDH is now operational in the organisation, providing AI driven marketing leads across multiple different streams. Pega CDH has contributed to an annualised revenue of $35 Million, through the below marketing integrations:

  • Email
  • Mobile
  • Digital
  • Bankers
Informatica Product Major Version Uplift
2021/2022

Within the NAB Data Hub's Metadata Governance toolkit, the are two primary metadata applications:

  1. Informatica Axon
  2. Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog(EDC)

In 2021, I upgraded the Axon service across 6 environments in prod and non prod. In 2022, I led the upgrade project for EDC with the assistance of Informatica consultants.
This upgrade has been described as the smoothest EDC upgrade in the history of the application at NAB, and has been met with praise from all involved stakeholders, meeting all customer requirements within schedule and within budget.

Vulnerability/Currency Response
2021

During my time at NAB, within my various teams, we experienced 2 critical vulnerabilities/currency issues, which required swift action.
These include:

For both of these, I was tasked with creating and action plan to remediate, communicating this to all stakeholders and finally executing the remediation with appropriate regression testing.
I was recognised at an executive level for my efforts in quickly and effectively resolving these urgent and high profile product issues.

BAU Cloud Optimization
2020

Since migrating applications to cloud, there has been a big push to increase the quality of infrastructure and reduce cost.
My contributions in this space include:

  • Resized and cost-optimized the AWS infrastructure for our portfolio across 3 applications
  • Innovated cloud cost saving strategies that have been escalated and distributed to our entire division to apply across their infrastructure
  • Took ownership and ensured regulatory compliance on a neglected AWS account within the team
  • Played a key role in enabling work from home during covid for tech resources by enabling AWS infrastructure/portal access to the NAB network

Within my team alone, we hit a milestone of $200,000 yearly reduction in cost with the above work.

On-Prem to Cloud Migration
2020

Having a background in teams that focus on development and support, I have had the opportunity to participate not only in BAU/Support activities, but also in multiple projects and enterprise initiatives.
These include:

  • Decommissioning and decoupling multiple legacy monolithic financial applications
  • Performing the first migration of Oracle EPM to AWS in the world!
  • Creating, deploying and supporting data interfaces between teams within the company and external
  • Ensuring compliance to rigorous enterprise wide standards for every cloud deployment/migration
  • Optimizing reporting scripts to reduce execution time by up to 10x and reduce resource utilization by half

With every piece of work I ensure that I maintain a great relationship with interfacing teams while also delivering the highest quality of work for my own team.

Automation/Incident Reduction
2019

During my secondment, I was tasked with increasing the quality of support for a new team in our division.
Within 6 months, I delivered:

  • 25% reduction in annual after hours support call-outs(560 incidents pre-emptively resolved)
  • Time savings of up to 41 days(one FTE) by automating resolution for several level 2 service requests

The combination of the above has led to an 8 week reduction of work effort for BAU, and a recurring annual savings of $80,000 for after-hours incident response callouts.

Hobbies/Interests

Technology

Outside of my work, I try and maintain an interest in hobbyist programming and other side projects as I believe the best way to increase proficiency in technology is to live and breathe it.
Most of my work is available on my github, however some of my other notable exploits include:

  • Building and publishing an app in the android app store(peak of 10k downloads, $25 a day in revenue), source code is available on my github
  • Won a hackathon at NAB during my internship, walked away with a google home mini
  • Installing a raspberry pi and using it to Block ads across my entire network
  • Built a brainfuck intepreter
  • Built and currently hosting a discord bot

Other

Outside of IT, I enjoy playing games, working on my car, and from time to time I dabble in music production and video editing.
I am currently playing Forza Horizon 5, my most played game is be Counter Strike: Global Offensive, and my favorite game in the past 5 years would have to be The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
I currently drive an e82 BMW 125i, and enjoy doing bits of maintanence if I have the time. I have owned 2 Mazda Mx5's and would highly reccomend them, and due to fortunate timing/covid's impact on the second hand car market, I even managed to sell my second one for a profit :)
I made a short promotional video(music and video editing) for my friends NFT project.
